Contact FlatCad
FlatCad is made by one independent developer. There is no support desk or ticket system: email to [email protected] comes straight to me, the person who writes the code.
Reporting a bug
The most useful bug report is one that lets the problem happen again on another computer. Please include:
- The file. If the problem involves a drawing, attach it: the
.flatcadfile (Save in the top bar, or Ctrl+S), or the DXF, SVG, AI or PDF you opened. A screenshot shows that something is wrong; the file shows why. - Your browser and device. For example "Chrome 130 on Windows 11" or "Safari on an iPad". Rendering and file handling differ between browsers, and touch input behaves differently from a mouse.
- What you did, what you expected, what happened. "Offset a rectangle with rounded corners by 0.1 mm, the outline came out open at one corner" is something that can be fixed. "Offset is broken" usually needs a second round of questions.
If the app shows an error message, copy its exact wording. Drawings are never uploaded to a server, so nothing reaches FlatCad unless you send it.
A DXF or SVG that won't import
Files from other programs are the most common source of trouble, and every one that gets sent in makes the importer better for everybody. Attach the file as it came from the other software, and say which program and version wrote it (AutoCAD, Fusion, Inkscape, Illustrator, LightBurn, a CAM package, a website that sells designs). Saying what you expected to see also helps: missing curves, the wrong size, text in the wrong place, or nothing at all.
Two cases are known limits rather than bugs: DWG files have to be saved as DXF in the program that made them, and a PDF that holds only a scanned picture has no lines to import (open the image instead and trace it, as described in image to DXF).
Feature requests
Ideas are welcome, and the most persuasive ones describe the job rather than the button: what you are making, which machine or program the file goes to next, and where FlatCad currently gets in the way. "I cut twelve copies of the same bracket from a 600 × 400 mm sheet and placing them by hand takes an hour" says what to build and how to judge it; "add nesting" leaves both open.
What to expect
I read every email. Bug reports that come with a file are looked at first, because they can be reproduced straight away, and fixes from reports go into the next update of the site.
Please don't send passwords or anything private you would not want stored in an email inbox. For how the site itself handles data, see the privacy policy; for what FlatCad is and what it can do, see about FlatCad and the manual.
