Cookie cutter generator
Turn any picture into a cookie cutter you can 3D print. Drop a silhouette or pick a ready shape, type the size, and the generator makes a thin cutting wall that follows the outline, standing on a wider flange for strength. Download the STL or 3MF and print it flange down, no supports.

How to make a cookie cutter
Pick a shape or drop a picture. A dark silhouette on white, or a PNG with a transparent background, traces best. The cutter follows the outside outline only.
Type the cookie size. That is the longest side of the cookie itself; the wall and flange go around the outside of it.
Check the 3D preview. Drag to turn it. Thin necks narrower than a few millimetres tear the dough: make the cookie bigger, or raise Smoothness and Ignore specks under Tracing settings.
Download the STL or 3MF and print it flange down.
Good settings
| Setting | Typical | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Height | 12–20 mm | Rolled dough is 4–8 mm; the rest is grip. Deep cutters for thick cookies or fondant. |
| Wall | 0.8–1.2 mm | Two to three lines of a 0.4 mm nozzle. Thinner cuts cleaner, thicker survives longer. |
| Flange | 3–5 mm wide, 2 mm thick | Stops the wall flexing and is comfortable to press on. Set 0 for a plain wall. |
| 0.2 mm layers, 100% walls | PLA or PETG, flange on the bed, no supports, no infill needed. |
Want the shape as a flat, raised badge or keychain instead? Use image to STL. Cutting cookie shapes on a laser? The image to DXF tool makes the 2D outline.

Questions
What picture works best?
A clear silhouette: dark shape on a light background, or a PNG with a transparent background. Clip art, a child's drawing photographed on white paper, or a logo all work. Only the outside outline is used, so details inside the shape don't matter.
What wall thickness should I use?
0.8 to 1.2 mm with a 0.4 mm nozzle (two or three lines). Thinner cuts more cleanly but bends; for firm dough or big cutters use 1.2 mm.
Which way up do I print it?
Flange down, as it is in the file: the wide rim sits on the bed and the thin cutting edge prints last, on top. No supports needed.
Is it food safe?
Use PLA or PETG and keep it for cutting only, then wash it by hand in warm (not hot) water. Layer lines can hold dough, so many people use a printed cutter for a season and print a new one. For food-contact rules, check your filament maker's guidance.
Can I add details, a handle or change the shape?
Press Open in FlatCad 3D: the cutter opens as a 3D part with its blade and flange as features, and you can add text, a handle bar or more shapes, then export the STL.
Is my picture uploaded?
No. The tracing and the 3D model are made in your browser; the picture never leaves your computer.
