Image to STL converter

Turn a PNG or JPG into a 3D-printable STL. Drop a logo, silhouette or drawing, and the converter traces its outlines, raises them to the thickness you choose and, if you like, puts them on a base with a hole to hang it. See it in 3D, then download the STL or 3MF.

How to convert an image to STL

  1. Drop the picture in the box above or paste it with Ctrl+V. It is traced into outlines and shown in 3D within a second.

  2. Check the shape. If parts are missing or the background is creeping in, open Tracing settings and move the threshold. For a white logo on black, tick Light shapes on a dark background.

  3. Choose the size and base. Type the width in mm and how far the artwork stands up. Outline around it makes a badge or magnet; Rounded plate makes a sign; None gives just the shape.

  4. Keychain or ornament? Tick Hanging hole: a ring with a hole is added at the top.

  5. Download the STL or 3MF and print it flat, base down.

Questions

What kind of picture works?

High-contrast artwork: logos, silhouettes, icons, signatures, hand drawings on white paper, or a PNG with a transparent background. The dark parts (or the opaque parts of a transparent PNG) become raised shapes; holes in the artwork stay holes.

Can I convert a photo of a person or a landscape?

Not into a useful shape: a photo has no clear outlines. For photos, a lithophane (a thin panel that shows the picture against the light) is the right kind of print.

How big will it be?

The width you type, in millimetres; the height follows the picture. The message under the 3D view shows the exact size and roughly how much filament it uses.

How do I print it in two colours?

Use a base. Most slicers can change filament at a layer height: set the change at the top of the base (2 mm by default) and the raised artwork prints in the second colour.

Can I edit it after?

Press Open in FlatCad 3D: the artwork and the base open as features of a 3D part. Add text, holes or other shapes, change any size, then export the STL.

Is my picture uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser; the picture never leaves your computer.
